Are you feeling crafty these days? Do you wish to get in touch with your artsy side and delve deeper into your craft? If so, you will need a craft desk to support your goal. Such a desk will play an important role in determining the level of success you will have in the process. But do not rush yourself just yet. There are things to take into consideration before you are able to get one that is fully supportive.
Questions to meet before purchasing a desk for craftwork center on the intention you have with the desk itself. Is the desk used primarily in your studio? Will it be used in your booth at a show to display your work? Or are you specifically looking for the one desk that can be used on either case?
How to Choose a Craft Desk
Criteria for each purpose differ in a lot of ways. Let’s discuss them one by one.
For when you are looking for a desk to be used in a studio:
1.The table’s height
The height of the table must be sufficient to avoid you from having to bend so much toward the desk. Retrofitting the one you already have (but with insufficient height) may need to be done, either by placing wooden shims or adding pipes to the legs.
2.Work surface height
The width of the work surface depends on the type of craft you are working on. To get a clear picture about this, try to spread the items and supplies you use for work and measure the total space those things occupy.
3.Work surface type
Again, this is in direct proportion with your craft. Consider these things: (1) Is the surface textured and how will it affect your work? (2) Can your techniques be withstood by the surface? (3) If the table folds up, it should come with a seam. Will this affect your work?
For when you need a craft desk for display:
Choose a desk that is sufficient to accommodate the entirety of your work
Choose a desk that is easy to carry around and moved aside once the event is done.
Choose a desk that makes it easy for visitors to observe your collection conveniently. For starter, choose a desk that is higher than 30 inches. Anything less than that would force anyone to bend so much and that would cause inconvenience.
