In 2015, Ontario’s Canadian Urban Institute recognized Stanton Renaissance for its hybrid, high-rise Mimico condominium project, naming it a finalist in brownfield mixed-use redevelopment. The residence, located just next to the Mimico GO station, is one of Stanton Renaissance’s greatest achievements, and has set a new standard for the future of urban high-rise developments. If other developers follow in Stanton Renaissance’s footsteps, reducing greenhouse gases along with heating, cooling, and energy costs will become the new status quo, with CEO and founder Luigi Santaguida having blazed the trail for others.

Outside of his real estate development career, Luigi has been a consistent contributor to charitable and philanthropic causes that stay true to the principles he adheres to in all areas of life: respect for community, respect for nature, and quality of life for all.

Here are just a few of his more notable moments of recognition for these contributions:

2009: Luigi received the “Keeping the Promise Award” from Covenant House—Canada’s largest homeless youth agency, based in Toronto—the highest honour awarded to a donor. He is a faithful participant in their annual Executive Sleep Out Event, which has raised over $2 million for the cause.

2008: Luigi was awarded the Scotiabank ICCT Environmental Leadership Award for his unparalleled efforts to create clean, environmentally friendly developments.

2007: The Italian government presented Luigi with the highly regarded Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta Italiana, a medal in recognition of his generous contributions to the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Galleria Italia endowment.

1996 and 1993: Luigi was the recipient of the Etobicoke Award of Excellence for Business.
